The state grew 2.4%, but 44 of 67 counties shrank

Pennsylvania added about 300,000 residents over the decade. The gains were concentrated in the southeast and the south-central corridor from Harrisburg to Lancaster and York, the Lehigh Valley, and around Pittsburgh. Most of the rural north and west lost population, while only 23 counties grew.
